Honey Comb @ 30 Bali Lane

Not to be mixed up with Honey Creme.

Not to be confused with Honey Creme.

Honey Comb is one of the fairly new additions to join the latest craze to hit Singapore; soft serve ice-cream with an added honeycomb. You might find that the place seems familiar & that’s because it has taken over where Stateland Cafe used to be. Fret not, Stateland has relocated just a couple of blocks down. Honey Comb is actually a partner with Stateland & here they offer soft serve milk ice-cream and yoghurt with fresh honeycomb.

Aesthetic
As mentioned earlier, Honey Comb has taken over the little space of where Stateland Cafe used to reside in. Most of the interior design of the place has been retained, though the place feels much more empty now. It just seems like the remnants of what Stateland was. There isn’t even a proper “Open” sign on the door & when I first walked into the place, I thought it was closed.

Food
Honey Comb offers up milk soft serve or yoghurt that comes with a piece of fresh honey comb & liquid honey. The whole honey comb concept seems to have taken Singapore by storm, with quite a few other places popping up offering similar desserts such as the famously well-known Honey Creme & also, Beegurt. The key difference here from Honey Creme is that their soft serve is made from fresh milk, giving their ice-cream a predominant taste of the calcium rich beverage.

Price-wise, it’s mostly in the norm for ice-cream desserts like this. Fairly similar to Honey Creme & Llaollao.

Classic ($6) Milk soft serve with fresh honey comb and liquid honey You can actually choose between the milk soft serve or the yogurt. I chose to go with the milk soft serve as I thought it was pretty interesting. I found the taste of the milk in the soft serve was quite strong actually. I do adore the honey-loaded syringe. You can even keep it! (Not sure what for though.)

Apple & Cinnamon ($7) Yoghurt soft serve with fresh honey comb, liquid honey, and apple and cinnamon granola My friends & I all originally thought the flavors for each choice was in the soft serve itself, until we read the menu again & realized that it was solely in the added granola. My friend had this with the yoghurt option and he just went nuts over it. He just loved it so much; it was the first time we saw him getting so ecstatic over food. I did get a taste of the yoghurt variation & felt that overall, it went better with the honeycomb rather than the milk soft serve.

Caramel ($6.50) Milk soft serve with fresh honey comb, liquid honey, and salted caramel sauce Another friend of mine had this & she thought it was fantastic as well. She did give the yoghurt version a taste but commented that she'll stick to her milk soft serve any day.

Shot of all dem soft serves together. The staff actually made a mistake with my friend's yoghurt order, making it milk soft serve instead. My friend originally accepted it, as the mistake would have been thrown away which would be a waste. The staff however, decided to redo the order & give it to us for free eventually. Kudos!

Worth A Visit/Revisit?
I do quite like Honey Comb, though the concept is pretty similar to Honey Creme, it’s different enough to make it worth a try. The difference in flavor of the soft serve along with the added honey syringe makes the place stand out from the whole honey comb craze; the syringe alone attracted me to try the place after seeing it on Instagram. It’s definitely worth a try, my friend can attest to that; he wants to head back again sometime soon.

  1. I do prefer honey comb compared to the over hypered honey creme! I brought my boyfriend & he went nuts over the apple & cinnamon flavor which is my fave flavor too!
