tart blanc’s storefront.
tart blanc is a quaint little artisan pastry shop situated in Millenia Walk. As you can tell from their name, tart blanc specializes in tarts while also offering sandwiches, teas, cakes & cookies. The place was opened by two sisters who were self-taught in pastry making and one of them even went to pastry school.
Interior of tart blanc.
[Pardon the lousy photo, it was taken with my phone quite a while back]
Ceiling lights. A fairytale-like quality.
The space for tart blanc is actually quite small, with only a few seats inside. The whole interior makes use of the basic color white, keeping things very neat, clean and simple. Some of their boxes, glasses and tea boxes are displayed on shelves. The round ceiling lights above give a very fairytale-like essence to the place. (Anyone remember the lantern scene from Tangled?) I do like the whole look of the place, they did a great job considering the space constraints.
Tarts! Look at all of them! Can’t decide which to get.
They even have macarons and chocolate truffles!
As mentioned earlier, tart blanc specializes in tarts. They have an extensive display of their range of tarts in the dessert counter, which can overwhelm a first-time visitor as there’s so many to choose from. Aside from tarts, they also offer other desserts such as home-made cookies, macarons & chocolate truffles. They do also serve savoury food, like pitas and sandwiches. Of course, they also serve coffee & delicious cold sweet teas for you to wash it all down.
tart blanc’s tarts are priced around $7 to $7.50. Though their tarts may seem small for the price, the quality and taste more than makes up for it. Quite a while back they also had an “End of the Day” promotion, where you can get their tarts for only $5 each after 8.30pm. I’m not sure if they still have this promotion or not.
I’ve actually been to tart blanc around four times, and hence have almost tried ALL of their tarts. I do find that I like them all, they’re all very well done. It’s best to take small bites and really savour the flavors & layers of each tart. I tend to find myself heading to tart blanc after a heavy meal, and so I would usually have to takeaway the tarts. (I did this a few times. I even once asked to have the tarts plated for me just to take photographs first before packing them up for takeaway. The staff was nice enough to obliged to my weird request! I thank them for that.)
Blueberry Lavender Chocolate Tart ($7.50) Lavender Chocolate Ganache, Homemade Blueberry Jam, Lavender Honey soaked Joconde, Blueberry Mousse This was my first ever tart from tart blanc. It had a slight hint of sourness to it which you’ll get used to after the first bite.
Blood Orange Matcha Tart ($7.50)
Matcha Streusel, Jivara Cremeux, Blood Orange Mousse & Glaze
This is probably one of my favourite tarts. The blood orange really complemented the matcha flavor.
Pistachio Chocolate Tart ($7.50)
Pistachio Frangipane, Pistachio Chocolate Feuilletine, Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Glaze
Another delicious tart. You can tell that they are all really artisan, especially in their descriptions. Half the time I have to do a Google search for what they mean.
Along with tarts, they also have a small selection of macarons. ($12 for 6 pieces)
Cassis, Salted Chocolate, Rose Tea, Orange Caramel, Pistachio, Lemon Raspberry
If you thought their tarts were good, their macarons were all quite delicious as well.
Packaging boxes for their tarts.
I really like their neat takeaway boxes.
Pumpkin Crack Tart ($7.50)
Brown Sugar Custard, Toasted Pecans, Pumpkin Cream, Candied Pecans
Even though I’ve only had this once, this is by far my most favourite tart of them all.
Really delicious, really creamy. It’s all good.
Saffron Poached Pear Tart ($7.50) & Banana Chocolate Silk Tart ($7)
The Banana Chocolate Silk tart is considered one their best sellers. It’s one of the tarts that get sold out quite fast.
Trust me, there’s a reason for that as well. Just take a bite and you’re understand why. The tart consists of Marinated Bananas, Caramel Sauce, Roasted Banana Cream & Chocolate Silk Cream. It all basically melts in your mouth and sends your taste buds into a frenzy.
Dark Forest ($7)
Layer Dark Chocolate Cake, Orange Chocolate Mousse, Kirsch Cherry, Vanilla Chantilly
As I’ve said earlier, apart from all the tarts they offer, tart blanc also has cakes from time to time.
These are all done very well too. The cake is really smooth & moist with a lot of thought gone into the creation of it.
Earl Strawberry Tea Mocktail ($5.80)
This tasted really great and it’s mixed on the spot for you. Nice cooling drink for a hot day.
New York Style Cheesecake
Another one of their cakes. Delicious, yet again. This was quite a recent creation of theirs. They are always coming up with new desserts.
Espresso Caramel Tart ($7.50)
Espresso Fudge, Espresso Mousse, Bailey’s Coffee soaked Sponge Cake, Caramel Glaze
Raspberry Praline Tart ($7.50)
Chocolate Chip Cookie, Praline Feuilletine, Raspberry Jelly, Praline Mousse, Raspberry Glaze
Another favourite tart of mine. It’s slightly sour due to the Raspberries, but in a good way.
Lemon Blackberry Tart ($7)
Whole Lemon Curd, Homemade Blackberry Jam, Lemon Cream
This was also one of the first tarts that I had at tart blanc. It’s another one of tart blanc’s more popular tarts, you can usually see this on Instagram.
Overall shot of the tarts and cake.
Worth A Visit/Revisit?
I highly recommend a visit to tart blanc. All of the tarts they offer are simply fantastic, you can tell a lot of effort has gone into each and every tart. Along with other great desserts they offer, they are also constantly creating new tarts & cakes. You can follow them on Instagram to have a Behind The Scenes look as well. I’m really looking forward to heading back for another visit to try their sandwiches and to have more their delicious tarts.
