Kilo At PACT @ Orchard Central

Kilo At PACT is a restaurant & bar situated in Orchard Central. Their cuisine involves a fusion of Japanese with Vietnamese. Kilo is actually part of three experiences that PACT offers. The entire space actually has a combination of a fashion retail space, hair salon & the restaurant/bar. These three combined are under the brand PACT, with the restaurant being called Kilo, hence the full name of “Kilo At PACT”.

Aesthetic
The entire interior look of Kilo is very simple and clean. The place makes lots of use of concrete, giving the place a very raw yet hard feeling. The decor is also very minimal, with artwork done by local artists hanging on the walls and the main centrepiece of cactuses. Being a combination of a fashion retail space, there are fashion magazines for customers to read while waiting for food. The seating in Kilo ranges from bar seats, to large concrete tables and large wooden chairs. I did find the concrete tables to be somewhat uncomfortable, I even scrapped my knees trying to maneuver around.

Food
The food at Kilo is quite interestingly unique. It’s one of the only places that I know so far that has a fusion of Japanese-Vietnamese. They do it really well too, with their food tasting & looking great. Perhaps the downside is that the place is in quite a secluded area of Orchard Central. Also, the prices for Kilo’s food is geared towards the higher end. I do think their lunch menu items are a bit more expanded than their dinner menu, so perhaps it’s best to head to Kilo for brunch instead. (Though their dinner items are quite nice as well)

Warm Baby Eggplant ($12) Donburi Sauce, Marscapone Cheese, Tempura Flakes Before heading to Kilo, I've read a few reviews that raved about this dish. Needless to say, they were right. This dish was quite unique in my opinion and every element tasted really good together. Recommended.

Salt & Pepper Crispy Baby Squid ($15) Chipotle Mayo, Lemon Ginger Aioli I do like my fair share of calamari, so I'll try to order it when it's in the menu. Kilo's version is done really well.

Angel Hair Capellini ($22) Ebiko Cream, Sautéed Prawns, Smelt Roe I loved the taste of this pasta. The Ebiko cream sauce was divine. Quite generous with the prawns as well.

Chocolate Lava Cake ($9) Strawberries, Vanilla Ice-Cream I remember a time when Lava cakes were deemed to be THE dessert to order because of how unique it was. Now, you can basically find it anywhere and everywhere. Kilo's lava cake definitely has more standard than the numerous ones I've tried. Great way to end the meal.

 Worth A Visit/Revisit?
I really like the concept of Kilo At PACT. The place has great decor and a quiet atmosphere, especially if you like to be somewhere less crowded. The food served are all superb & unique, not something you’ll find in your everyday restaurant. I definitely recommend giving Kilo a try, I would love to go back to try more of their food as well. Though, with the above average pricing, I would think Kilo is more of a place that you go once in a while instead of making it a regular occurrence.
